Residential Development

Argaka is one of the communities of the Pafos District which manages to resist urbanisation and to develop its housing. Itslocation, itsmodernroadnetwork and its natural beauties constitute only some of the factors which have contributed to the community’s fight against urbanisation and to its residential development.

In particular, Argaka is built in an advantageous position, with in a closed instance from Polis Chrysochous, while the modern road network makes it easily accessible. Infact, Argaka is crossed by the main road artery which links Polis Chrysochous to Pyrgos, which is located at the beach front. Additionally, the road network covers the entire village, just like the water supply and irrigation network. TheWaterDamsupplies all the village’s cultivations with water, while at the same time the Cooperative Society for the Distribution of Agricultural Products (SEDIGEP) receives and distributes all the products.

Located in Argaka and the area neartheCommunity are various educational institutions. Inparticular, at the village there is a Nursery School and a Primary School, while in Polis Chrysochous, which is located a seven-minute drive away from the village, there is a Gymnasium, a Technical School and a Lyceum.

The residential development of Argaka is also enhanced by the village’s natural beauties. It is a village which combines the peace and quiet of the mountain and the sea. On the one side spreads the pine forest and on the other the beach front. After all, this natural beauty of the village is what favours tourist development as well. As the president of the Community remarks, tourist development is one of the factors which boosts residential development.

All the more young couples choose to live in Argaka. The Community Council is planning to create businesses and areas which will cater to the needs of the youth while at the same time strengthening its organised parties in order to assist in the village’s tourist and residential development.

The new residential zones of Argaka areas follows: starting from the location “Kosina” and up to the beach front, from the location “Soreftis” and up to the beach front, as well as the area of the Monastery of AgiaVarvara.
